This Summer/Fall Trainee position is from May/June through December 15th and all candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday in the specified location. This is not a remote role. A hybrid work option may or may not be available.


The Sony Pictures Learning & Development team (part of People & Organization Department) is responsible for empowering employees' growth and developing their knowledge, skills, and capabilities to drive better business performance. Learning & Development supports a number of people initiatives, including new hire onboarding, core and technical skill development, leadership and business acumen development, diversity and inclusion, and talent management.

The ideal individual will be proactive and anticipatory in approach, demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills, have high attention to detail, and have strong technical skills. They should exemplify an energetic, poised, and positive demeanor, as well as demonstrate the ability to balance multiple priorities and work well in a diverse, fast-paced, team environment.


Learning Instructional Design:

  • Provide quarterly support for Strategic Functions learning strategy by drafting learning themes and gathering resources and materials
  • Audit classes against L&D Content Creation Checklist and make improvement recommendations
  • Draft and test participant satisfaction and knowledge surveys for learning classes and programs

Instructor-led session planning and event support:

  • Scheduling facilitators, ordering/preparing session materials, and handling coordination logistics for approximately 15 sessions per month
  • Provide production and tech support for live, facilitator-led sessions/programs
  • Assist management of Media, A/V, and Catering requests
  • Assist management of Facilities room holds and set-up requests
  • Prepare swag packs for Learning Programs
  • Support deployment of personality profiling tools by handling profile setup, monitoring completion, and material preparation for sessions

Online Resources Vendor support:

  • Analyze utilization data to clean up inactive users and reassign licenses if needed

Learning Management System (LMS) support:

  • Provide backup support for creating and marking attendance of learning events and programs in LMS (Cornerstone)
  • Track enrollment statistics to inform marketing for sessions as needed
  • Assist with learning transcript requests

Learning communications and marketing support:

  • Support testing of Quarterly Learning Catalog, HR Business Partner Newsletter, and P&O Take Care Newsletter
  • Assist with the design of Digital Screen marketing

Department inbox management:

  • Manage Learning and Development inbox to assist employees with learning resource inquiries

General team support:

  • Provide backup support for scheduling meetings
  • Assist with ad-hoc project support as needed
  • Support team file management and organization


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. Must be able to do pivot tables, Vlookup, etc
  • Extremely detailed oriented and organized
  • Excellent follow-through skills
  • Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful, and flexible
  • Self-starter, who proactively identifies gaps and structures actions to address them
  • Comfort with technology/systems, including SharePoint, Learning Management System, and Workday
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Basic project management skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity with an understanding of when to push for needed detail
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changes in priority and/or direction easily
  • Strong problem-solving skills as well as an appetite for troubleshooting
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • A desire to grow and learn in a fast-paced, innovative team

The anticipated base salary for this position is $20.00 an hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
