Our Core Values: * Trust * Ambition * Collaboration * Ownership Mindset * Having Fun About the Position: The Associate, Finance & Operations (Sr., Analyst level) is an integral member of the Finance & Operations Team (FinOps) and will take a significant part in fund operations, financial reporting and audit support for the funds managed by Hazelview Investments. The role will have direct responsibilities in the net asset value production oversight and reconciliation, month-end close, financial operations (capital and investment transactions) and financial reporting as well participate in ad-hoc project on a as needed basis. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Accounting: * Prepare/review daily or monthly NAVs, including the review of financial information and NAV reports prepared by fund administrators, property managers and general partners. * Prepare/review supporting information for fund level transactions, provide details to fund administrators and ensure transactions are accurately reflected in the relevant accounting system(s). * Prepare/review financial statements, other fund reporting and supporting working papers for investment funds/vehicles including private and/or public funds with investments in direct real estate, private equity, publicly traded securities, and private debt. * Assist with year end audit and tax compliance, including preparation/review of audit and tax working papers, and other audit tasks as assigned. Fund Operations: * Assist with the oversight of third-party administrators and other key service providers. * Prepare/review net asset value calculations prepared by administrators. * Review inbound and outbound capital calls, distributions and redemptions. * Assist with the preparation of valuation support for private investments and/or private debt. * Prepare debt covenant calculations for various mortgage/credit facilities and assist with credit maintenance. * Prepare bank, trust, intercompany and other account reconciliations. * Prepare/review accruals and the coding of fund-level supplier invoices. * Assist with various reporting, process initiatives and projects as assigned. * Maintain up-to-date written processes and procedures. Job Requirements: * An undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, or related field. * Completed or working toward a CPA designation. * 4+ years of public accounting, fund accounting or property accounting experience. * Must have end-to-end financial statements preparation and experience with dealing with auditors. * Industry experience in real estate investments and/or property management, and strong understanding of internal controls, accounting principles and real estate investment, private equity, or fund operations are valuable assets. * Must have strong skills in Excel and Word. * Experience with Yardi including voyager, job cost and construction management module is an asset. * Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills. * Must be comfortable interacting with senior management and staff across other departments. * Flexible with a “can-do” attitude and a “no task is too big or too small” attitude. Qualifications: * Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, to adapt quickly, prioritize and manage concurrent processes and reporting requirements while meeting tight deadlines. * A professional demeanor and coupled with excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. * Strong problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent follow-up skills. * Ability to work and act independently using good judgment when assessing challenging situations. * Self-motivated and pro-active. * Continuously seeks process improvement and efficiency opportunities.
