Employee is responsible for assisting the Finance Director in performing operational duties within the scope of established policies and procedures. Must work with City personnel, officials, and the public with discretion and diplomacy. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the guidance and direction of the Finance Director or designee. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Exercises direct supervision over Accounts Payable Clerk and Customer Service Specialist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by the City Accountant. The following duties are typical for this classification and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. It is expected that every employee should be on time, fully prepared, every day that the employee is scheduled to work. Assists and supports Finance Director, Administrative Services Director/City Clerk, Human Resources Director, and City Manager. As needed, serves public, answer phones, receive payments for accounts receivable and operate office machinery. Prepares and reconciles reports for Resort Tax Monitoring Committee. Oversees claims processing, accounts payable, and vendor files. Processes payroll and maintains data in payroll information system. Produces bi-weekly payroll; Assists with training employees on filling out timecards according to their respective employment document; Prepares and files State and Federal payroll reports; Reconciles and pays payroll liabilities; Assures data integrity and confidentiality for all City employee salary, benefit, and personnel related information. Review daily batches and prepares bank deposit. Closes out monthly financial records of the City and performs bank reconciliation. Creates Journal Voucher, Revenue Voucher and Tax Voucher entries; prepares electronic claims associated with ACH payments; Provides support to Finance Director for preparation of all year-end closing and financial audit(s). Manage and supervise departmental staff, plan, assign, and organize workload and staff assignments, train, motivate, develop, review, and evaluate work performance of department staff, review progress and direct changes as needed in a productive and positive manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must be bondable. Must possess a valid State of Montana driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one within three months of hire date.
