As the Accounts Assistant you will provide day to day metal accounting support for several business units for which the metal accounting team provide accounting and metal accounting service. Particularly focused on the Noble Metals business unit.
Your responsibilities:
  • Support the Metal Controller’s focus on Group and local control & compliance regarding the completeness and accuracy of Financial Reporting (Metal only)
  • Ensure and understand there are robust and effective controls in the business to safeguard the assets of the shareholders and the metal accounts of the customers.
  • Assisting with the reporting of the metal accounts to meet Group monthly and semi-annual reporting requirements, including key balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is in place
  • Processing accounting entries as required, including journals, stock movements, metal transfers, interfaces and sundry invoices and credits
  • Managing reconciliations of intercompany metal balances and arranging metal funding with other Johnson Matthey business units as required
  • Monitoring Customer metal to ensure the appropriate funding is received according to required lead times and liaising with customer services
Requirements for the role:
  • Early stages CIMA/ACCA student or, late stage AAT level 4 student looking to continue studies with CIMA/ACCA.
  • Previous experience in an accounting department, preferably a manufacturing company
  • Good IT skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of complex information and requirements
