Ideal Consolidated, Inc is part of Martell Servieces Group, Inc. We have office in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Arizona. We are a union mechanical contractor with our home office located in South Bend, IN.

THE JOB DESCRIPTION: The Mechanical BIM Modeler reports directly to the VDC Manager. The BIM Modeler position is responsible for producing clear and technically accurate drawings based on design specifications, assembly creation, and detailing based on material submittals.

WHAT YOU DO: The duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

  • Assist BIM Manager - Preconstruction Services with and take a leadership role in department standards development and content creation
  • Coordinate and mentor the design process/workflow including detailed drafting tasks, project issues, and potential solutions
  • Create buildable, efficient, code/standard-compliant detailed designs based on contract documents (according to standards, fits, and stack-ups) with guidance from the Pre-Construction Services Manager, General Foremen, and Project Managers
  • Attend project meetings and provide status updates on specific/requested design workflow
  • Compare data between source documents (drawings, sketches, scanned images, specifications) and final drawings to detect errors or missing information
  • Provide technical support to the team as needed
  • Organize, print, and file drawings, one-lines, and arc-flash reports according to department protocols
  • Coordinate and follow up with Project Managers regarding any changes or unmet needs
  • Utilize Trimble Total Station to orient and layout specific points of detail on the actual job site to ensure and improve field crew work process
  • Prioritize workflow according to departmental needs
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Associate Degree, Trade School Certification or High School Diploma/GED with at least two years of experience in computer-assisted design programs
  • Ability to use a computer including computer design programs (CAD, BIM, REVIT, and Naviswork) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and the Google Suie (Gmail, Drive)
  • Basic understanding of contract and construction drawings
  • Familiarity with electrical construction practices
  • Motivation and ability to manage time, follow detailed instructions to manage and fully accomplish multiple, unrelated tasks with multiple steps
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills and ability to maintain relations with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexibility and the ability to adjust priorities on short notice, manage interruptions and work well under pressure
